When one of Frommer’s photo editors contacted me out of the blue to see if I was interested in photographing places all over Seattle for a couple of their upcoming books, I about fell off my chair. Let me think about that for a sec uhh YES!!

It’s always been a dream of mine to photograph for a travel guide or magazine and now it’s come true! My photos in a book on Amazon (also HERE). I’m over the moon!

To celebrate and share the love, I’m giving away a copy of the book shown in the photos above (because it’s the coolest of the two books). I’ll ship it to wherever you live in the world. :)

Matt and Amy’s wedding at the Lake Union Cafe here in Seattle was seriously one of the most fun weddings I’ve been to, as a photographer or not. When they came in for their initial consult and talked about how they wanted their day to be one of celebration and fun with their family and friends, I was already a fan! And they fully succeeded at making the day just that. No wedding party, no bouquet or garter toss. Just simple and sweet with the emphasis on their oh-so-awesome relationship and on how much they enjoy the people around them. I could just see that everyone was having a rocking good time. Sooooo very cool!

I think their December day was the sunniest, most beautiful day of the month (perhaps the nicest day Seattle’s EVER had in December) and we had an awesome portrait time downtown just before and after sunset. ‘Twas amazing!

I can’t even remember how I heard about this fun website and online photo community. I think it was through a few different blogs I follow, because they say that it takes multiple exposures to something before we decide to give something new a try. I must’ve hit the tipping point because I finally decided to join in the fun this week with their photo challenge theme being “By the Book”! Fun! Check out the other entries at I Heart Faces.

The final installment of Aston’s first year collection was a grand old time! We started with some playtime and cuddle time in his home stomping grounds, went for a stroll in the park, and ended with a birthday cupcake complete with balloons and confetti. It’s been a joy to watch him grow from a bump in mommy’s tummy to little newborn cuteness to an even cuter six month old and finally to see him celebrate his first birthday. What an honor to witness such a handsome new life blossom and thrive!

These two have got some serious style! In Taylor’s words, they are all about “books, travel, food, and God.” A killer combo for a great life! We had a blast during their lifestyle session doing all the things they love to do together: cozying up and reading, snuggling and talking on the couch, perusing travel books and dreaming about their next trip, making popcorn, goofing around, and because the weather allowed it, some fun shots outside at Woodland Park. I love how we were able to capture sweet moments, goofy moments, and moments of them just being them. Thank you, you two, it was truly a pleasure and an honor to be let into your world!

Matt and Amy are a fun fun couple! They met on a beautiful sunny day in Maine and Amy caught Matt’s eye with her tenacity in learning to surf in the freezing water. They love doing anything if it means they are together but top of their list are traveling and exploring the beauty of a foreign city, reading the Sunday newspaper over a cup of coffee (it’s likely that Matt roasted the beans himself!), and hiking anything from volcanoes to rain forests. They have such a love for each other that can only add to their capacity to love the friends and family around them.

It’ll be my honor to be their to capture their wedding day memories at Seattle’s Lake Union Cafe later this month! Can’t wait!

Matt has inspired Jake and I to start roasting our own coffee using the very same air popper my family used to pop popcorn while watching super 8 home movies on the wall when I was a kid. We quickly upgraded and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a fancy new drum roaster. I love DIY stuff!

This is Zoë, our new little puppy! If you’ve been following this blog for a while, you know I’ve been wanting a puppy for soooo long.

I love dogs, but it turns out I’m kinda picky about the kind of dog I’m willing to give a chunk of my life to. I grew up with Samoyed (the big whited fluffy dogs with curly tails) and Samoyed mixes, and they were the best dogs ever. Samoyeds are wonderful people dogs, but their fluffiness can get a little out of control. So a Samoyed mix it was! Problem is, they are hard to find.

I searched petfinder.com for a long time, and after several disappointments, I gave up looking. But Jake, being the sweetie that he is, kept looking every few days for the next year.

Then on a Friday night a couple weeks ago, we were chilling on the couch and he pulled up petfinder. Up popped a huge litter of Samoyed mix puppies… in Arizona. It was a big gamble to fly so far to adopt a puppy but last minute flights were reasonable so several hours later, I was dropping Jake off at the airport. I would have loved to have gone myself, but I had a commitment keeping me in Seattle.

Jake got to the Petco where they were bringing the puppies for adoption just before they got there and was first in line. A nail-biting couple hours for me later, I got a text with a photo of a puppy. We got one!

She’s the cutest lil dog we’ve ever seen, and already love her to pieces. I called my mom while I was waiting to hear from Jake in Arizona, and she said Jake must love me a lot to go all that way for a puppy! He says he loves me even more than that. Awwww! Now feel free to roll your eyes. ;)

With the end of daylight savings, there’s no doubt fall is in full swing on towards winter. This fun summer session makes me smile with its glowy sunshine, playfulness, and warm mother/daughter moments. I love that they chose to begin the session in the library. It makes me think of how much I enjoyed reading with my mom when I was little and how she would read me the same book over and over and over at my request no matter that she could probably recite it by heart. :)
